WHS caps impressive SBAAC turnaround with win

In its SBAAC finale, Wilmington defeated Batavia 25-16, 25-23, 20-25, 25-13 Thursday night.

The Hurricane moves to 14-5 overall and 5-5 in the division, good for a third place tie with Goshen.

Wilmington had won just five league matches in its previous four SBAAC seasons combined.

Batavia is 12-9 overall, 4-6 in the division.

WHS capped its impressive turnaround with the four-set win over Batavia thanks to 20 kills by Brynn Bryant on just 43 attacks.

Bryant also had 13 assists, four aces, 18 digs and a block. Caroline Diels had 10 kills, 22 assists, three aces and five digs.

Ashley Delph had three kills, four digs and two blocks. Sydney McCord finished with two kills, a dig and three blocks. Lexi McKee-Cole had an ace.

Banesa Morales recorded three kills, an assist, five aces and 17 digs. Jena Rhoads had a kill, two assists and 14 digs. Lisbon Smith contributed two kills, an ace and seven digs.
