Evanshine reaches 1,000 kills in Astros 3-0 win

LEES CREEK — On a night Libby Evanshine reached a personal milestone, East Clinton remained in the hunt for the SBAAC National Division title with a 25-21, 25-8, 25-15 win over Clermont Northeastern Tuesday.

The victory puts the Astros at 13-2 overall and 6-1 in the division. Williamsburg leads at 8-0.

Clermont Northeastern is 6-3 in league play and third overall.

“It was an awesome night in Astro country,” EC head coach Sarah Sodini said. “We also recognized our middle school program.”

Evanshine, the Hammer to her teammates, recorded the 1,000th kill of her volleyball career. She finished the match with 19 kills, 11 digs and four aces.

Trinity Bain had an ace and two digs while Savannah Tolle had three aces and 12 digs. Aubrie Simpson had a dig, Luisa Rigolin had an ace and Eryn Bowman had a block.

Lauren Runyon had four aces, three kills and three digs. Jordan Collom finished with three aces, two kills, 14 assists and five digs. Kami Whiteaker had an ace, six kills, a block and a dig. Lauren Stonewall had a kill and an assist. Jozie Jones had a kill, a block and a dig. Megan Tong totaled an ace, two kills, 12 assists and three digs.
