DELAWARE — The Wilmington College men’s and women’s swim teams both finished fourth this weekend at the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational.

WC sophomore Isak Alin broke his own school record in the 100-yard individual medley Sunday, clocking 52.42 to win the event by more than three seconds. His previous record in the 100 IM was 55.11 seconds.

Alin also won the 200 breaststroke in a season-best time of 2:08.23. He was runnerup in the 100 breast then teamed with Aaron Polk, Logan Schroer and Reed Ashcraft to finish fourth in the 200 medley relay and fifth in the 400 free relay.

Polk was fifth in the 200 butterfly while Mike Austin was fifth in the 200 backstroke.

Matt Allen was fourth in the 400 IM while Ian Darras was fifth. Coach Trip Breen also was pleased with the effort of Samuel Shanes in the 1,650-yard freestyle.

“Samuel Shanes swam a great mid-season mile today,” Breen said. “He applied a lot of the things he has focused on in training and it definitely paid off.”

The team of Alin, Mike Austin, Aaron Polk and Logan Schroer were third in the 400-yard medley relay.

“The team had a great three sessions and swam as fast as they did being unrested,” Breen said. “We still have a lot to work to do as we prepare for the second half of the season, but after this weekend, I am excited about the process.”

On the women’s side, Macki Leon won the 200-yard free in 2:01.45. She also was fifth in the 200 back and was part of three relays, two of which finished fourth overall. Leon, Fynn Roberts, Hannah Davis and Margaret Hover were fourth in the 200 medley relay while the same quartet finished fourth in the 800 free.

Hover, Davis, Leon and Ana Endsley were third in the 400 free relay.

Roberts was fifth in the 100 breaststroke and fourth in the 200 breaststroke. Hover was third in the 100 free.

Wilmington returns to the pool for an Ohio Athletic Conference dual meet with the University of Mount Union on the road Jan. 18.
