ADA – Seth Jermer finished fifth in the 285-pound weight class to highlight the Wilmington College wrestling team’s performance at the Ohio Northern Invitational at King Horn Sports Center Saturday.

Jermer started the day with a win by forfeit over Adrian College and followed that up with back-to-back wins over Miles Daniels of Defiance College (Fall 2:33) and Steve Longazel from Lycoming College (Fall 2:03).

After starting his day 3-0, Wilmington’s heavyweight lost his next two by fall. The first came at the hands of Lycoming’s second big man, Nicholas Winfield (Fall 3:46) and the other at the hand of OAC conference foe Eric Adkins of Heidelberg University (Fall 1:20). Immediately following, Jermer would win the fifth place match by no contest over Chris Martinez, another OAC foe, from Otterbein University.

Wilmington also gained 3.5 points from Clayton Schirmer who competed in the 157-pound weight class. Schirmer won two of his four matches beating Eric Fomekong of Mount St. Joseph University by decision 6-3, and Josiah McClarren of Lycoming by fall in 1:13.

As a team, the Quakers finished 13th at the tournament.

Wilmington will return to action Dec. 21 as it heads South to Nashville, Tenn. for the Gator Boots Duals being held at McGavok High School.
