CHILLICOTHE — The East Clinton girls bowling team set a school record Saturday at the All Baker tournament at Shawnee Lanes.

The EC girls had a 186 baker game, eclipsing the old record of 175, coach Joe Davis said. Davis added he was pleased with the effort of the girls.

“They now know what they are capable of,” he said. “All bowlers are bowling the best they’ve bowled all year. Our last two practices plus this tournament, I’ve seen a vast improvement in all the bowlers. We are coming out of the (holiday) break doing very well.”

The tournament format was 16 baker games with up to nine addition baker games for the eventual champion.

East Clinton girls went from 13th to 7th with four games to go but Davis said fatigue set in and the Astros dropped back to 10th.

On the boys side, the Astros lost their top bowler for the year, coach Dale Wallace said, but the remaining bowlers “bowled hard” and now look forward to continued improvement.

“We’ve had some hard practices and each bowler is dedicated to learn and improve,” Wallace said.
