GBK Final: Wilmington 42 Goshen 27

GOSHEN — Wilmington’s defense held Goshen to single digit point totals in each quarter Thursday and won a 42-27 American Division girls basketball game.

Wilmington stays on top of the division with a 5-0 record. WHS is 6-6 overall.

Goshen is 1-3 in the American, 6-6 in all games.

The Lady Warriors attempted just four free throws, all in the first half. They made three of them.

Karlie Morgan led WHS with 13 points, scoring eight in the second half. Katie Murphy added 12, with eight of the in the third quarter.

Wilmington was 7 of 15 at the free throw line, just 4 of 9 in the fourth quarter.

The Hurricane led 12-6 after one and 19-12 at halftime. Morgan had five while Murphy and Jasmine Jamiel had four each.

In the third, WHS extended its lead to 34-19 as Murphy led the charge for WHS.

Despite a sub-par free throw shooting performance in the fourth, Wilmington held on for the win.
