WHS volleyball wins 4-setter over Massie

WILMINGTON — The Clinton-Massie volleyball team was defeated by Wilmington 14-25, 28-26, 15-25, 23-25 Tuesday in SBAAC American Division action at Fred Summers Court.

The Lady Falcons are 6-9 on the year, 3-3 in the American Division.

Wilmington is 1-5 in the division and 6-9 overall. For WHS the win ends an seven-match SBAAC losing streak to Clinton-Massie.

“We just couldn’t execute and finish plays,” CM head coach Stephanie Reveal said. “We had a lot of missed opportunities and didn’t pass the ball very well and in order to be competitive in matches we have to do the little things. Again service errors in crucial points of the match was the nail in the coffin.”

Kennedy Thompson of Massie was able to record the 1,000th assist for her CM career. The milestone came off a kill by Cadin Reveal.

“Kennedy knew she was close and Cadin wanted to be the one to give her that accomplishment,” coach Reveal said.

For Wilmington, Chay Johns had six aces, two kills, 13 assists and 11 digs. Emily Self had two aces, six kills, a block and 14 digs. Harlie Bickett had three aces, four assists and a team-high 24 digs.

Caroline Diels finished with three aces, a team-best 16 kills, eight assists and 11 digs. Emily Butcher had a kill. Sydney McCord totaled two kills and three solo blocks. Banessa Morales had a kill, an assist and five digs. Jena Rhoads finished with 12 digs and an assist. Vanessa Addison had a kill, an assist and four digs. Emily Butcher chipped in with an assist and two digs.

For Clinton-Massie, Thompson finished with 12 points, two kills, 29 assists and 15 digs. Reveal had five points, 21 kills, one ace, two blocks and 20 digs.

Kinsey Beam totaled three kills, 19 digs and a block for CM. Cailyn Crain had four points, three kills, an ace, a block and seven digs. Courtney Fisher finished with a kill and nine digs. Natalee Hillman contributed two points and four kills while Holly Young hadsix points, an ace and 11 digs.
