WILMINGTON — Marietta College, ranked No. 12 in NCAA Division III baseball, put up 22 hits and scored multiple runs in six of the nine innings Monday in a 26-3 Ohio Athletic Conference victory over the Wilmington College baseball team at Tewksbury-Delaney Field.

The game gives the Pioneers (10-1) a series sweep and puts the Fightin’ Quakers with a 1-10 record.

Jesse Reliford took the loss for Wilmington, allowing five earned runs on eight hits in two innings. Five other Quakers pitched, and Tyler Shaneyfelt was the lone individual to not give up any runs as the freshman pitched two scoreless innings with a strikeout.

Offensively, Caleb Scott and Mac Davis both had two-hit afternoons for Wilmington. Scott had the squad’s lone extra base hit while Davis drove in both runs.

Wilmington will face Muskingum University for a four-game series this Friday and Saturday.
