Lady Hurricane blows away Cincinnati Christian 56-23

HAMILTON – Cincinnati Christian never threatened Wilmington in the Hurricane’s 56-23 shellacking of the Cougars Wednesday in non-league girls basketball action.

Wilmington (4-2) blew the game open with the first 10 points of the second quarter and holding the Cougars to just a field goal.

It was more of the same in the third quarter as the ’Cane scored 11 of the first 13 points.

Mya Jackson led all scorers with 18 points despite playing a little more than two quarters.

Wilmington’s reserves, who won their game handily 47-16, played the entire final period of the varsity game.

Grace Edmonston led the Cougars (3-5) with six points.

Wilmington will get back into South Central Ohio League play Wednesday at Clinton-Massie. The reserve game is scheduled to tipoff at 5:30 p.m. with the varsity game to follow at approximately 7 p.m. at the Lebanon Road gym.
