MT. ORAB — Clinton-Massie scored three runs in the top of the eighth inning and defeated Western Brown 11-8 in non-league baseball action at Gary Waits Stadium.
The win lifts the Falcons to 12-2 on the year.
AJ Perkins pitched five innings in relief and picked up his second win of the season.
“AJ Perkins … I can’t say enough about him,” CM coach Brian Camp said. “AJ pitched great for us, the couple of outings he has had.”
Massie led 8-4 early in the game but the Broncos tied things at 8-8 in the fifth inning.
In the top of the seventh, though, with one out and the bases loaded, the Falcons took the lead when Luke Richardson stole home on a missed squeeze attempt. On the next pitch, David Poynter executed the squeeze with Max Murray scoring and it was 10-8. Jacob Wolf then made it two squeeze plays in a row when his bunt allowed Ashdain Martin to score.
The top of the Falcons lineup was strong with Richardson Murray, Noah Greathouse and Poynter combining to go 10-for-14 with six runs scored and seven runs batted in.
