ECJH sweeps ROB volleyball

LEES CREEK — The East Clinton Junior High volleyball teams won a pair of matches Thursday from Wilmington’s Rodger O. Borror Middle School.

The East Clinton eighth grade notched a 25-5, 25-15 win over Borror.

For East Clinton (now 3-3 on the year), Kiya Byrd had four kills. Riley Flint had two aces and a kill. Katie Hughes had a kill and Camille Hughes had two aces and four kills. Myah Jones had four aces.

Reagan Landrum had an ace and Rhylee Luttrell had two kills. Emma Malone had an ace. Rheanna McQueen had five aces. Melina Noble had four aces and Sarah Ross had one ace.

The seventh grade came out on top 25-23, 25-15.

Katrina Bowman had 10 points, five aces, two assists and a kill. Alexis Rolfe had nine points and three aces. Lauren Hadley had six points, five of them aces. Holly Bernard served one point.

Gracie Evanshine had two points, an ace, a dig and a kill. Marci Ellis had two points and an ace. Gracie Boggs had two points, an ace and two kills. Jerick Boggs had two points, an ace, a kill and a block.

“The girls were fired up from the beginning,” said EC coach Jaime Evanshine. “Their teamwork is multiplying every game and that’s why we are getting better every game. Serving and passing looked strong and our girls are getting more aggressive at the net. We are working hard everyday and it’s showing.”
