Broncos edge Ladycats on Monk courts 3-2

MT ORAB — After a hard rain shower, the non-league tennis match between Blanchester and Western Brown was completed Tuesday with the Lady Broncos coming out on top 3-2 here at the Alma Monk Tennis Complex.

The loss puts the Ladycats at 3-2 on the year. Western Brown is 6-2.

“First off, I can’t believe we got the match in,” BHS coach Matt Sexton said. “Only once did the rain get hard enough to cause the courts to be a little slick.”

Sexton said the first doubles match “was a high-quality match” with Alexis Vestal and Korie White coming up just short for BHS.

On Monday, Blanchester faced Waynesville but the match was suspended because of inclement weather.

“Waynesville was much improved over a year ago. The matches at one and two have been good matches. I’m really pleased with how Grace (King) has turned her match around. She’s got a good shot to rally and win that in three. First doubles took care of business and second doubles was well on their way.”
