CM boys 3rd, advances to district; EC season over

MIAMISBURG – Led by Keith Mineer, the Clinton-Massie boys golf team finished third Wednesday in the Division II sectional tournament at Pipestone Golf Course.

The third place finish earns the Falcons a berth in the Oct. 5 Division II Southwest District tournament at Beavercreek Golf Course.

East Clinton also competed in the sectional at Pipestone on Wednesday but finished 12th overall. None of the Astros qualified individually for the district tournament.

Shane Streber had an 85 (42-43) for the low score for the Astros. Gage McConahay had 87 (42-45) and Brendon Walters had 96 (47-49). Logan Kelly came in with a 105 (49-56).

Kettering Alter won the sectional title with a 312 while Oakwood was runnerup at 328. Massie’s 348 edged Eaton’s 353 for third. The top three teams advanced to the district from the sectional tournament.

Mineer led the way with a 76 (36-40). The Massie senior had the third low score of the day. Ben Herman of Valley View was sectional medalist with a 73.

Max Carnevale had 83 (39-44) and Alex Burnham came in with a 94 (44-50). Nick Young carded a 95 (47-48) and Cameron Collett posted a 98 (49-49).
