Sophia Reyes, a sixth grader at the Rodger O. Borror Middle School, passed her Junior Black Belt test Saturday at the Bushido Dragons karate school in Wilmington.

Reyes, 12, passed the hour-long test that included empty hand techniques, sparring, kata, ground techniques and multiple attackers. Reyes, who started karate when she was five, had to demonstrate expert level skills in all areas, according to a press release from the Bushido Dragons.

Reyes was judged by Master JD Williams, owner of Bushido Dragons; Master Rick Ludwick of Cross County Bushido; and sensei Rachael Williams.
