Jamiel, U19 Galaxies in MW Regional this weekend

Katlyn Jamiel and her Ohio Galaxies FC 99 Girls Elite soccer teammates will begin play Friday in the 2018 United States Youth Soccer Midwest Regional Championships at Grand Park in Westfield, Ind.

Jamiel is a 2018 graduate of Wilmington High School. She has signed to play soccer in college at Ohio Dominican University, an NCAA Div. II institution in central Ohio.

Playing in the U19 division, the Galaxies will open the tournament 8 a.m. Friday against St. Louis AFA Fillies Wyland in pool play. Jamiel and Co. will play 2 p.m. Saturday against Minneapolis United Inferno and Noon Sunday against Iowa Rush to close out pool play.

Following an off day on Monday, teams advancing to the semifinal round will begin bracket play Tuesday. The finals are scheduled for Wednesday.

The regional champion will earn a berth in the 2018 U.S. Youth Soccer National Championship tournament July 23-29 in Frisco, Texas.

The Ohio Galaxies FC 99 Girls Elite team was coached this season by Travis Sobers. The team finished the season as OSYSA State Cup finalist. The team advanced to the Midwest Regional Championship as a result of their performance in the Premier 1 division of the Midwest Regional League.

Sid van Druenen will be coaching the 99 Girls Elite in the Midwest Regional event.
