ADAMS TOWNSHIP – With two players recording two goals each, the Clinton-Massie girls soccer team defeated Blanchester 4-2 Thursday in a non-league match at Frank Irelan Field.

The Lady Falcons continue to soar this season with a 5-1 record. Blanchester is 2-2-1.

Sadie Carruthers and Lindsey Carter had two goals each for Clinton-Massie.

Savanna Shank gave Blanchester a 1-0 lead, taking an Emily Hinkle cross and beating the CM goalkeeper.

Carruthers then scored off a penalty kick to tie the match. The Lady Falcons began to “dominate possession,” BHS head coach Kurt Ballinger said.

Carter’s first made it 2-1 Massie and the score remained the same to end the first half, thanks to Regan Ostermeier’s stout defense of the BHS goal.

But early in the second half, the Lady Falcons went up 3-1. Hinkle and Shank combined again on a BHS goal to cut the difference to 3-2.

But the Lady Falcons answered in short order and went back up by two goals, 4-2.

Ostermeier finished with 21 saves. Bri Wilson had another “gutsy” performance in the defensive midfield for BHS. Hinkle’s two assists pulls her within three of the BHS career record, Ballinger said.
