BETHEL – Gabby Woods broke her own school record and Clinton-Massie posted a season best team score in the SBAAC girls golf outing at the Colonial Pines Golf Club.
Woods had a 3-under par 31, besting her old nine-hole mark of 34. She had four birdies and a bogey in her round.
“It was a heck of a round,” CM coach Tim McGraw said. “She was dialed in tonight. On the par 3s she birdied, she had no more than 14 inches on the three shots. They were kick-in birdies on all three.”
Woods’ season averaging going into the match was 36.5. Her highest round of the year is 40.
“She spends all summer and all winter working on her game and it’s really starting to pay off for her.”
As a team, the Lady Falcons shot a season-best 174 to win the outing. Taylor Anderson’s 44 was a season-best.
Wilmington was third with a 201.
Lilly Middleton posted the low score for the Lady Hurricane. Madison Gilbert had a 49.
In the season-long team standings, Clinton-Massie is comfortably in front with 963. Clermont Northeastern is second at 1020 and WHS third at 1073.
Woods is at 176 in the player of the year standings. Middleton is tied for second with 231.
So it would seem, both Woods and the Lady Falcons’ team are in good shape to claim titles with the 18-hole league tournament and one nine-hole outing remaining.
“We’re not done yet,” McGraw said. “I tell them to stay in the moment and take one shot at a time.”
Marci Ellis of East Clinton had a 61 and Regan Grogg of Blanchester shot a 70.
