BATAVIA – Scoring two goals in the second half, the Batavia girls soccer team defeated Wilmington 2-0 Tuesday night in SBAAC American Division play.

“Batavia is a good team,” WHS coach Alex Rhinehart said. “We went into half 0-0. You could tell Batavia was scrambling a bit to find their game. In the second half, they demonstrated great team play, especially in the midfield. It left us chasing the game for the rest of the contest. That’s what good teams do. They adapt and disrupt their opponents play.”

Rhinehart said Karlie Morgan had several key saves in goal. Also freshman Grace Rhodehamel made her varsity debut following an injury to play solidly along the back line, Rhinehart said.
