WC volleyball makes it 4 straight wins

BATAVIA – The Wilmington College volleyball team swept the University of Cincinnati Clermont College 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 26-24) Tuesday, the fourth straight win for the Fightin’ Quakers.

The four straight victories is the longest win streak for the program in at least six seasons.

Karrah Wind led Wilmington offensively with 10 kills while Amber Rox had eight. Mariella Szrom tallied six kills on 11 attack attempts while Meghan Koch finished with five terminations. Jacie Koontz and Summer Wilbur both had 18 assists and combined to assist on all but two of the Quakers’ kills on the evening.

Defensively, Karley Schlensker led the back row in digs with 18 while Wilbur (13) and Jillian Wesco (14) played strong defense as well. In the front row, Morgan Loomis tallied three solo blocks.

Wilmington improved to 5-12 overall with the win and opens Ohio Athletic Conference play at Heidelberg University 1 p.m. Saturday.
