EC starts slow, defeats WHS volleyball

LEES CREEK – After getting off to a slow start, East Clinton defeated Wilmington 25-23, 25-21, 25-15 Monday in a non-league volleyball match at the EC gym.

Wilmington led the opening set 15-9 before the Lady Astros rallied to close out with a close win.

“We started slow but they (Lady Astros) never gave up and came back and took control of the game,” EC coach Sarah Sodini said. “Kait Durbin served well and both our setters, Lacey Peterman and Myah Jones, had great setting games.”

Durbin ripped seven aces in the win for EC to go along with 11 kills a the net and eight digs. Peterman finished with six aces, 15 assists and three digs while Jones had four kills, eight assists and two digs.

Gracie Evanshine had four aces and Megan Stewart contributed two aces, a kill and a dig. Emma Malone finished with six digs and Rhylee Luttrell had three digs. Kiya Byrd had an ace, two kills and two digs. Kenzie Campbell had three aces, six kills and five digs.
