WHS spoils BHS girls soccer Senior Night 2-0

BLANCHESTER – The Blanchester girls soccer team was defeated by Williamsburg 2-0 Thursday on Senior Night at Barbour Memorial Field.

BHS seniors Emily Hinkle, Olivia Gundler, Lili Morlan, Regan Ostermeier, Sally Schafer, Savanna Shank and Bri Wilson were honored during a ceremony which followed the game, coach Kurt Ballinger said.

“Our program is extremely appreciative of the hard work these girls have put into the program for four years. All of them have played pivotal and demanding roles on our team for many years, and we will miss their skill, leadership, and personalities and wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors.”

Blanchester is 6-7-2 with the loss and will play at Taylor 3 p.m. Saturday.

The BHS-WHS game started as see-saw battle with Blanchester notching seven shots but unable to score. Williamsburg scored with approximately four minutes to play in the first half to take a 1-0 lead.

Though Ostermeier made 17 saves in her final home game, Williamsburg was able to record another goal midway through the second half.
