Blan 7th grade out, 8th grade advances in tournament


The Blanchester Junior High School volleyball teams split matches, with the eighth grade advancing in the SBAAC tournament.

The eighth grade Ladycats defeated Clermont Northeastern Saturday in the tournament at Wilmington.

Ainsley Whitaker had seven kills, nine assists and three aces. Summer Schutte finished with eight kills, seven assists and three aces. Hailey Mulvihill contributed six kills, two assists, an ace and a block. Makayla Lanham had three kills, an ace, an assist and two blocks. Sarah Pell had an ace and three kills. Emma Falgner had three aces, two kills and two assists. Falgner, Josephine Wilson and Mia Torres played well defensively to help key the win, coach Amanda Benza said.

In the seventh grade tournament on Saturday, Blanchester lost to East Clinton.

Gracie Roy had an ace, three kills and two perfect passes. Kaylee Coyle finished with three kills and three perfect passes.
