Oberle powers Ladycats past St. Bernard in 3

BLANCHESTER – After a slow start, the Blanchester High School volleyball team cruised to a 25-23, 25-14, 25-19 win Saturday over St. Bernard-Elmwood Place in Division II sectional action at the BHS gym.

The Ladycats will play No. 2 seed Williamsburg 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the BHS gym in the lower bracket championship match. The winner advances to play the Brookville 1 sectional champion Saturday at Northmont High School.

Blanchester lost two matches during the season to Williamsburg. Both teams are members of the SBAAC National Division.

Madeira will face Reading at 6 p.m. Wednesday at BHS in the upper bracket championship match.

During the BHS match, Morgan Oberle recorded her 500th kill, setting a new Blanchester High School record.

“She worked all year to achieve this goal; I’m so proud of her,” BHS coach Jenna Weisflock said.

Oberle finished the night with nine kills, four blocks, 16 points, two digs and 12 perfect passes.

Holly Scott had 24 assists, two kills, 15 points, three digs and eight perfect passes. Madison Creager contributed a kill, 16 points, four digs and five perfect passes. Kassidy Abney had an assist, two kills, 11 points, a dig and five perfect passes.

Ally Davis totaled four kills, 10 points, four digs and 12 perfect passes. Caili Baumann chipped in with an assist, eight kills, two blocks and six points, Kelli Hoffman recorded two digs and two perfect passes. Molly Campbell had two good passes.
