WHS swimmers earn top 6 in 9 events in Hoosier state

AURORA, Ind. – Wilmington swimmers finished among the top six in nine events Saturday to reach the podium at the South Dearborn High School Invitational.

P.J. Godsey and Josh Andrews led the Hurricane boys with fourth- and fifth-place finishes, respectively, in the 50-yard freestyle. Godsey and Andrews also had fifth-place finishes in the 100 free and 100 breaststroke, respectively.

The duo also was part of the sixth-place 200 medley relay and fifth-place 400 free relay teams with Riley Ibaugh and Aiden Hester.

The boys 200 free relay team of Parker Henry, Andrew Delph, Calvin Walls and Tyler Preston also made the podium with a fourth-place finished.

Three Wilmington girls relays teams – the 200 medley, 200 free and 400 free – also stood atop the podium. Meredith Robinson, Maddie Steinmetz, Rachael Billups and Petra Bray made up the 200 medley relay that finished fourth.

Robinson also was part of the fourth-place 200 free relay team with Anna Garnai, Abby Greene and Leah Deck. Bray, Greene, Billups and Deck finished third in the 400 free relay.

TEAM RESULTS

Girls: Ryle 339, Cincinnati Mercy McAuley 323.50, Cincinnati Oak Hills 199, Wilmington 91.5, Milan 90, Oldenburg Academy 81, South Dearborn 25.

Boys: Cincinnati LaSalle 268, Ryle 264, Cincinnati Oak Hills 252, Milan 165, Wilmington 110, South Dearborn 108, Oldenburg Academy 3.
