The East Clinton eighth grade girls basketball team defeated Batavia Monday 46-19.
Kami Whiteaker had 20 points and four rebounds. Hayleigh Purdue contributed 11 points, five assists, four rebounds and two steals. Jayden Murphy finished with eight points, six rebounds, six steals and four assists. Jozie Jones had five points, eight rebounds, two blocked shots, a steal and an assist. Megan Tong contributed two points and four rebounds.
The EC coaches said their team played well from the tip-off, despite being shorthanded. Batavia has some nice players and is well-coached, the EC coaches added.
“The girls really fed off the energy from their teammates and especially from the crowd,” coaches Todd Runyon and Jason Whiteaker added.
