Cline breaks Wright’s Astros pin record at EC Duals

LEES CREEK – East Clinton went 0-5 Friday in the East Clinton Duals wrestling tournament.

The tournament originally was scheduled for Saturday but was moved up because of the weather forecast.

John Cline went 4-1 for East Clinton with three pins, becoming the school’s all-time pin leader. His three pins give him 56 for his career, eclipsing Thomas Wright’s total of 54 which was established during Wright’s senior season of 2017.

Also in the tournament, Gavin Denniston won his first varsity match, 12-3, and Zach Vest won his first match by pin.

Greenon won the tournament while Williamsburg was runnerup.

East Clinton lost to West Union 25-24, North College Hill 19-18, Greenon 67-6, Greeneview 35-12 and Williamsburg.
