Wildcats hand Mustangs 82-54 non-league loss

LYNCHBURG – Starting fast and finishing strong, the Blanchester boys basketball team had no trouble Saturday with Lynchburg-Clay, 82-54, in a non-league game at the Highland County gym.

Blanchester is now 8-10 on the season.

The Wildcats had their shooting touch as long as the shot came inside the three-point line., Blanchester struggled from the arc, 6 of 22.

Inside the arc, however, Blanchester was unstoppable, making 29 of 44 (66 percent). Hunter Bare was 9 for 10 from the field and finished with 20 points, 15 rebounds and four blocked shots.

Brayden Sipple led the ‘Cats with 27 points. The Blanchester sophomore has 973 points for his career. Todd Lane (1,124 points) and Bob Jacoby Jr. (1,120) are the only players in BHS boys basketball history to reach 1,000 career points.

Tanner Creager had six assists and three steals for Blanchester.

The Wildcats led 23-12 after one then pushed the difference to 18 at the half, 45-27. By the end of the third, it was Blanchester 65, Lynchburg-Clay 39.
