CM grad Richardson claims OAC long jump crown

ADA – The Wilmington College men’s track and field team finished ninth Saturday at the Ohio Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship meet at Ohio Northern University.

The University of Mount Union won the meet.

Joe Shuga was 11th in the shot put (42-8). Evan Whitaker was 10th in the 3,000-meter run (8:57.18). It is the fifth best time in WC history in that event.

Wilmington also had teams compete in both the 800-meter and 1,600-meter relays.

The 800-meter relay squad of Adam Knaub, Aaron Koch, Elliot Phillimore and Elorm Dogbey took sixth with a time of 1:34.48 while Dogbey, Knaub and Koch teamed with Bertsch to claim a fifth-place finish in the 1,600-meter relay with a time of 3:32.92.

On Friday, Luke Richardson was seventh in the long jump (27-0.5).

Shuga was ninth (48-5.75) in the weight throw while Andrew Pacifico was 16th (44-4.75).

Wilmington’s 4,000-meter distance medley relay squad of Cameron Phelps, Aaron Koch, Taton Bertsch and Whitaker finished sixth with a time of 10:58.83.

The Quaker will return to Ada next weekend for the Ohio Northern University Last Chance Meet on March 1-2.
