The Capital Crusaders come to Fred Raizk Arena at Hermann Court Wednesday riding a three-game winning streak, and playing with a bunch of confidence.

“(A) quality Capital team (with) two good senior players in A.J. Dixon and Mark Minch, a transfer from Ohio Dominican,” said Wilmington head coach K.C. Hunt. “They have a lot of good young players, similar to us. If you look statistically, it’s an even match. It’s going to an interesting game.”

Wilmington will host Capital 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Fred Raizk Arena. It’s White Out, so all fans are encouraged to wear white.

Minch, who averaged 12 points at Division II Ohio Dominican last season, leads the Crusaders. The 6-4 guard has scored at least 14 points in all five games this season, and is averaging a team-high 18.0 points per game.

He is putting his complete game on display by leading the team with 7.4 boards from his backcourt position.

“He is legit scholarship player that happened to fall down to our level,” said Hunt. “He can take you inside, outside; he is a tough player. But there are a lot of tough players in this league, and we are going to get a dose of those types of players every night.”

Backcourt mate, Dixon, is second on the team with 12.8 points per game. He is the team’s top three-point shooting, making 44.8 percent (13-of-29) of his long-range attempts.

More than half of his 53 shot attempts have come from beyond the arc.

“A.J. is a senior, and has been through all of the ups and downs that go along with have a college career,” said Hunt. “He has seen just about everything. When you watch him on film, he is playing with a lot of confidence. He is ready to lead, and is a quality point guard in this league.”

Freshman guard Will Hannah is third on the team in scoring with 9.6 points and is second on the team with eight three pointers. Two other freshmen, Joe Thomas and Austin Schreck – are amongst Capital’s top seven scorers.

“They have a bunch of good, young freshmen, whom are long and athletic with the ability to put the ball in the basket,” said Hunt. “It’s going to be an interesting challenge. You are going to have a lot of young guys running around guarding each other (Wednesday) night.”

Senior Zach McCorkle (Cincinnati, OH/Winton Woods) leads the team in scoring (17.0) and rebounds (6.8), while sophomore Christian Jones (Hamilton, OH/Hamilton) is adding 13.5 points per contest.
