Wilmington fall soccer registration slated

Wilmington Parks and Recreation Fall Soccer registration will be open July 13-August 10 for children kindergarten through eighth grade. Online registration is available on the Wilmington parks and recreation Facebook page.

Program cost is $20 for Wilmington residents/$15 for each additional child; and $30 outside city limits/$20 each additional child. A $10 late fee will be assessed for payments after August 10. If you have any questions, contact Jody Drake at 937-383-2818.

Volleyball official classes upcoming

OHSAA High School Volleyball Official Joe Davis is teaching a class for those who wish to become a volleyball official.

The class will start at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 15. You need to get at least 25-30 hours of class time and scrimmages and pass the tests to become an official. This year you can do middle school and freshman and reserve games.

Cost is $135and you will be guaranteed some games this year from taking the class to start earning your money back immediatley, Davis said. The first class on July 15 will be at Damon’s Restaurant in Wilmington, and the remaining dates and times will be decided up with the class. You will receive the books to study the rules and no less than 30 hours of class and scrimmage time; you will take an open book exam to become an OHSAA official.
