A Martinsville man died as the result of a single-vehicle accident on State Route 134 in Highland County Monday morning.

According to the Wilmington Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, at approximately 05:24 a.m. a 2010 Dodge Caliber driven by John M. Meyers, 26, of Martinsville was southbound on SR-134 when he failed to negotiate a curve and traveled off the left side of the roadway. The vehicle struck a tree and overturned onto its top.

Meyers sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Highland County coroner.

Although the accident remains under investigation, the OSHP said alcohol consumption is suspected in the accident. The crash investigation remains open and ongoing — any witnesses are asked to contact the Wilmington Post of the OSHP with further information pertaining to the investigation.
