LEES CREEK — The East Clinton tennis team defeated Blanchester 4-1 Wednesday in a non-league match on the EC courts.

Allison Tong of EC won a thrilling three-set match over Brooke Honaker 6-3, 6-7 (2-7), 7-5 at first singles.

“Allison Tong and Brooke Honaker played a classic three-hour match,” said BHS coach Matt Sexton. “It was back-and-forth the entire way. It was an enjoyable high-quality match that neither really deserved to lose. Brooke has been playing really well for the last week and it continued in this match.”

Heather O’Neill at third singles was the only BHS player to pick up a victory.

“She has played some very tough competition lately at third singles and has played well,” Sexton said. “In this match, she was rewarded for how well she’s played lately.”
