The Wilmington College women’s soccer team had its two-game winning streak snapped Wednesday as the Fightin’ Quakers fell to Wittenberg, 4-1, in non-conference action.

Statistically it was pretty even as both teams attempted nine shots and the fouls were nine to eight. However, the Tigers made the most of their chances in netting four goals.

Wilmington’s only marker came in the second half.

In a 76-second span midway through the opening half, Wittenberg seized control with back-to-back goals – both of which were unassisted. They added a third goal just 37 seconds into the second half.

Freshmen Ashley Lovett (Washington Court House, OH/Washington Senior) and Alaina Lundregan (Dublin, OH/Hilliard Davidson) each had two shots with one each on goal. In fact, seven different players tallied shots on goal for the Fightin’ Quakers.

Freshman Brittany Ross (Covington, OH/Newton) fell to 2-2 on the season, allowing four goals on seven shots in 90 minutes of action.

Wilmington (2-2) returns home 2 p.m. Saturday to host Franklin in non-conference action.
