Mural Party/WC Night set for Friday

The Third Friday events, sponsored by Main Street Wilmington, have had a wonderful summer, and now the last Third Friday Mural Party of the season will be Friday, Sept. 18 beginning at 6 p.m. at the mural parking lot on Main Street behind the General Denver Hotel. Food and drinks will be available to purchase from local vendors.

The party is free and Elite Sound Productions with DJ/owner Tom Ibaugh will be playing your favorite music from the ’60s to today. Main Street will start playing around 7:30 p.m. and will be ready to welcome the Wilmington College students as well as the Wilmington College Alumni. Stop by and welcome the new students here and welcome our Wilmington College alumni back home.

DD board hosts run/walk/roll at Cowan Lake

The Clinton County Board of DD will be a hosting a “FALL down and DYE” 5K run/walk/roll at Cowan Lake Oct. 3.

Participants will be splashed with a natural color dye while running along beautiful Cowan Lake. The event will be timed by JCM Timing for serious runners; those just looking for a fun family event can walk at their leisure.

Parking is located near the beach area. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the race begins at 9 a.m. Participants are encouraged to register early to ensure a T-shirt and swag bag.

Proceeds benefit the employment initiative for people with disabilities.

Patrol plans OVI sobriety checkpoint

The Ohio State Highway Patrol announced Monday that troopers will operate an OVI checkpoint in the Wilmington area to deter and intercept impaired drivers this week.

The county where the checkpoint will take place will be announced the day prior to the checkpoint, and the location will be announced the morning of the checkpoint.

If you plan to consume alcohol, designate a driver or make other travel arrangements before you drink. Don’t let another life be lost for the senseless and selfish act of getting behind the wheel impaired.

Operational support for the sobriety checkpoint will be provided by local law enforcement agencies.

Lynchburg-Clay Glow/Run Walk slated

Lynchburg-Clay High School will be hosting a 5k Glow Run/Walk Oct. 9. At 8:30 p.m. there will be a Kiddie Race and the 5k Run/Walk will begin at 9 p.m. The race will begin and end at the Old School Park by the Lynchburg-Clay Board Office.
