Falcons flog Panthers 63-7

ADAMS TOWNSHIP – Hunter Fentress threw for four touchdowns and ran for another to help Clinton-Massie crush Miami Trace 63-7 in the South Central Ohio League opener for both teams.

Fentress, who finished his night at halftime with 180 yards on 8-of-11 passing, hooked up with Thomas Williams on three of his TD passes – 16, 25 and 70 yards – and a streaking Bryce Boyd for a 42-yard strike. Williams set up his second score with an interception.

“Hunter missed a couple passes tonight, but he came back with an outstanding effort on the run on the quarterback draw and then he had some really nice balls down the field. Tommy Williams just continues to do a phenomenal job on the receiving end. He’s a weapon,” CM head coach Dan McSurley said.

The Falcons (3-1, 1-0) hit paydirt by land four times in addition to a Fentress 71-yard run. Davey Tunon started the scoring deluge with a 4-yard run on the third play of the game. He set that up with a 59-yard run the play before his score. Brad Hunt sandwiched touchdown runs around a Massie fumble recovery caused when Tunon crushed Miami Trace quarterback Austin Lovett. Weston Trampler tacked on Massie’s final score late in the contest.

“We put Davey Tunon out there to spark the defense and that’s exactly what he did,” McSurley said. “He came on an outside blitz and just smoked the quarterback.”

The Panthers’ lone score was Drake Litteral’s 99-yard kickoff return after Massie had gone up 42-0.

Miami Trace remains winless in four games this season.

CM runs its overall SCOL winning streak to 46, its SCOL home winning streak to 34 and overall home winning streak to 25.
