NEW VIENNA — Organizers hailed this village’s first Oktoberfest as “a great success,” and hope to make it an annual event.

“Our first year has been a great success, and we’re hoping to make it an annual event,” said Chuck Morris, the head of the Oktoberfest subcommittee of the New Vienna planning committee.

Morris estimated 750 to 1,000 people attended during the two-day event.

According to Morris, they enjoyed a wide variety of Oktoberfest-inspired food, including bratwurst, sauerkraut and potato cakes provided by local restaurants, music and beer from the “biergarten.” Children had fun with the rubber chicken toss, hula hoop competition, face painting and marshmallow bow shooting games.

The Oktoberfest was launched as a fundraiser for the New Vienna Community Center with costs, utilities and replacing the damaged roof, according to festival organizers.
