WOOSTER — A goal just a few minutes in to the game by junior Taylor Scott was enough to lift the Wilmington College women’s soccer team to a 1-0 victory Saturday over Wooster in non-conference action at Carl Dale Field.
Scott (Lynchburg, OH/Lynchburg-Clay) took the shot from the left wing, and beat the outstretch arms of the goalkeeper for her third goal of the season. She took two of Wilmington’s six shots.
From there, freshman Brittany Ross (Covington, OH/Newton) and the Wilmington defense took over as the Fightin’ Quakers recorded their second straight shutout. Wooster only had three shots on goal, all saved by Ross, who improved to 4-2 on the season.
Wooster committed 12 of the game’s 19 fouls, and both teams had two corner kicks.
Wilmington (4-3) returns homes 7 p.m. Wednesday to face Ohio Wesleyan in non-conference action.
