County GOP holds annual picnic

The Clinton County Republican Party held its annual picnic on Monday, Sept 21.

Those attending were addressed by State Auditor Dave Yost on State Issues 2 and 3. An interesting history lesson was woven in to the subject about state monopolies and a 50-year ban in Ohio on Yellow oleo margarine. This analogy relates well to the present day and those two issues that voters will decide this fall. Yost recommends a “yes” vote on Issue 2 and a “no” vote on Issue 3.

Ohio House Speaker Cliff Rosenberger also addressed the crowd and introduced Garrett Wahl, a nine-year-old with a healthy interest in civics and how government works. Garrett gave a brief talk on his visits to the statehouse in Columbus as well as his trip to Washington, D.C.

While in Washington, he got to vote on the floor of the U.S. House with Rep. Steve Stivers, and he toured the White House.

“He is a promising young man who is a good role model for all,” said county GOP chairman Tim Inwood.
