Blan comes up short to Batavia

BLANCHESTER — The Blanchester volleyball team lost a tight match Thursday to Batavia, 19-25, 25-22, 25-23, 13-25, 10-15.

Asia Baldwin had a strong match at the net, recording 11 kills and 10 blocks. She had just one kill error and also had six points and five digs. Rachael Doyle had strong defense at the net with seven blocks. Sarah Burton and Hannah Wisniewski had five blocks each.

“All in all our game at the net went pretty well,” BHS coach Rebecca Doughman said.

Allie Evans had 18 digs and Kayla Dugger had 16 digs. They combined for 52 perfect passes to the setter. Dugger also had 17 assists, six kills, five points and an ace. Evans had an assist, five points and an ace.

Burton also had seven kills, 13 points, two aces and seven digs. Wisniewski had 17 assists, a kill, 11 points and two aces. Shayla Sicurella had a kill, four points and seven digs. Doyle finished with an assist and two digs. Heather Hurtt had one dig and Stephanie Gerlach had five digs and 16 perfect passes to the setter.
