Blan 8th grade suffers first loss

The Blanchester eighth grade football team was defeated for the first time this season, 20-6, by Amelia last week.

The seventh grade posted a 42-0 win and improved to 4-1 on the year.

Brody Rice “did a little bit of everything,” coach Brad Ballinger said. Rice had two touchdown receptions, two point-after conversion catches, a point-after conversion pass, six tackles, an interception on defense and a forced fumble.

Colt Conover had 118 yards and two touchdowns rushing, caught a conversion pass and had six tackles and a forced fumble on defense. Brayden Sipple had 104 yards passing, 42 yards rushing, three total touchdowns and a pair of conversion passes. Blake Richard had a rushing touchdown, a team-best seven tackles and an interception. Gabe Peters had six tackles and Brady Phillips led with 2.5 sacks.

In the eighth grade game, James Peters had 207 yards rushing and a touchdown, while recording nine tackles on defense. Tanner Creager had five tackles and a forced fumble. Gage Daniels had an interception.

The eighth grade Wildcats are now 3-1-1 on the year.
