The race to the top of the South Central Ohio League standings on Oct. 30 appears to be a three-horse race.
There’s reigning champion Clinton-Massie at 3-0 along with fellow Clinton County squad Wilmington and Chillicothe.
Those three frontrunners have yet to face each other, so things remain wide open.
Even a one-loss Washington Senior team would appear to be in the hunt, though on the outside a bit. The Blue Lions get a chance to get in it or be relegated to also-ran status this week when Wilmington comes calling at Gardner Park.
Clinton-Massie travels to Hillsboro and Chillicothe hosts McClain.
The other league game has Miami Trace at East Clinton.
All SCOL games are scheduled to kickoff 7:30 p.m. Friday.
The only game not involving a Clinton County team has McClain crossing county borders to meet Chillicothe.
The Cavaliers escaped last week’s game against Hillsboro with a 14-6 win.
The Tigers lost to Miami Trace 32-13.
Taking a look at the league teams as far as the playoffs are concerned, it appears three teams have a shot, the trio of unbeatens.
For the first time in several weeks, Clinton-Massie moved back into the top eight. The Falcons are No. 7 in Div. IV Region 14.
Wilmington is No. 12 in Div. III Region 10 and Chillicothe is No. 9 in Div. III Region 9.
The top eight teams in each of Ohio’s 26 regions advance to the playoffs.
