The Blanchester girls soccer team secured second place in the Southern Buckeye Conference National Division girls soccer standings with a 2-1 win over Georgetown Thursday on Senior Night at Barbour Memorial Field.

Ladycats seniors Jasmine Maloney, Audrey Jordan, Tristan Culberson and Shauna Fiebing were honored.

Blanchester is now 10-4-1 overall and 7-3 in league play.

BHS took a 1-0 in the 33rd minute when Jordan’s school record 16th assist found the foot of Emily Hinkle who cut through the Georgetown defense and scored.

In the 36th minute, Sierra Drake dribbled through the defense and sent a pass to a sprinting Taylor McQuitty whose redirect made it 2-0. It was McQuitty’s fifth goal of the year.

Georgetown made it 2-1 and kept the pressure on but BHS defenders Mckenzie Hamm and Emma Gundler “stepped up to the challenge and helped stonewall the Georgetown onslaught,” coach Kurt Ballinger said.

Regan Ostermeier had nine saves in goal in the first half for BHS and Sabrina Duncan had six saves in the second half.
