AT&T, through the AT&T Foundation, donated $12,000 Tuesday to the Wilmington Succeeds program. The funds will go to support educational opportunities by providing a dozen $1,000 scholarships to Wilmington High School graduates who will attend either Wilmington College or Southern State Community College. Holding an oversized check are Mark Romito, AT&T director of external affairs, and Jan Blohm, Clinton County Foundation (CCF) executive director. From left are Jim Wolary of CCF, Shirley Haines of CCF, Pat King of CCF, Tyler Williams of Wilmington High School, Romito, Mike McCarty of CCF, Wilmington Mayor Randy Riley, Blohm, Lauren Raizk of CCF, Dennis Kelly of Wilmington College, Taylor Stuckert of the Clinton County Regional Planning Commission, Phil Zeigler of CCF, Scott Holmer of CCF, Chaley Peelle Griffith of CCF and Neal Bond of CCF. Not pictured but present is Nicole Roades of Southern State. The Wilmington Succeeds program is meant to help the city address “brain drain” and to be more proactive in having college graduates live here following graduation. The CCF stewards more than 300 funds that provide resources to charitable causes.
