GREENFIELD — In a back and forth battle, McClain outlasted East Clinton 28-21 Friday night in a South Central Ohio League battle at the MHS field.
The win ends an 18-game losing streak for the Tigers. McClain is 1-8 overall and 1-5 in the SCOL.
East Clinton has lost seven straight and is 2-7 overall, 0-6 in the SCOL.
The Astros took the opening kickoff and went down field to take the lead. East Clinton’s Luke Hanners scored on a short run to put the Astros up 6-0 with 6:09 to play in the first.
McClain took the lead late in the first half, 7-6, but 19 seconds later East Clinton regained the lead at 14-7 with 43 seconds to play in the second quarter.
The Tigers tied the game at 14-14 early in the second half and then took the lead 21-14 with 6:57 to play in the third. McClain extended its lead to 28-14 with 2:02 to play in the third.
The Astros scored in the fourth quarter but were unable to get any closer than 28-21.
