BLANCHESTER — Police are searching for a Blanchester man wanted for Assault and Criminal Damaging.

According to Blanchester Police Chief Scott Reinbolt, at around 8 p.m. Monday Blanchester police and a Clinton County Sheriff’s deputy responded to a report of a fight in the street in the 300 block of Bourbon Street. He said police found Coty Combs, 21, bleeding from his mouth; Combs told officers he and his girlfriend were driving down Bourbon Street when they were flagged down by a woman asking them to call 911 due to her being involved in an altercation with her boyfriend.

Combs stated he got out of the car and dialed 911, when the woman’s boyfriend, Micah Waits, 34, confronted him and punched him in the head several times, according to Reinbolt. Reinbolt said Waits fled the scene prior to police arriving and officers were not able to locate him in the neighborhood. His last known address is 407 Bourbon Street, Blanchester.

Reinbolt stated that Waits is currently on parole after serving a five-year prison term for felony Domestic Violence. Reinbolt also said Waits has a lengthy criminal record spanning a decade which includes convictions for Aggravated Assault and felony Theft. He was arrested on Nov. 16, 2015 by an Ohio State Patrol Trooper and charged with Driving Under Suspension.

“He was jailed at that time on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court on a prior Resisting Arrest case,” Reinbolt said. “He is currently out of jail on bond.”

Blanchester police are in the process of obtaining an arrest warrant for Waits, who remains at-large. He is charged with Assault for striking Combs, and with Criminal Damaging for causing damage to his girlfriend’s vehicle prior to the assault.

“Mr. Combs should be commended for stopping to help another human being who was in peril,” Reinbolt said, “and the fact that he was assaulted as a result of this act of humanity should offend the sensibilities of every member of our community.”
