WILMINGTON — A near capacity crowd of more than 150 seniors recently heard how to avoid being scammed during an informative presentation at the Wilmington Savings Bank Clinton County Senior Center.
Wilmington Savings Bank sponsored a free cookout preceding an hour-long program by Ryan Lippe, a consumer educator for Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine’s consumer protection section.
Lippe used PowerPoint slides and videos to educate those in attendance about the various consumer scams that target seniors. He answered a number of questions at the end of the presentation.
Lippe conducts programs to groups across the state to teach Ohioans about their rights and how to avoid scams. He also prepares educational materials to advance the mission of protecting Ohioans from unfair and deceptive business practices and consumer fraud.
An annual membership to the center is $20. Non-members can get more information about the center and inquire about membership by contacting Stella Cramer at 937-382-7170 or at [email protected]. Information can also be found at www.clintoncountycap.org.
