WILMINGTON — The Health Alliance of Clinton County (HACC) held its quarterly meeting at Cape May Community Room on the evening of Oct. 25 as 31 members and guests gathered to enjoy a wonderful fall buffet dinner.

Following dinner, HACC member Pat Richardson introduced this year’s scholarship recipients, Jennifer Sparks and Angela Pierson.

Jennifer Sparks is employed by CMH Regional Health System and works at East Clinton Medical Services. She is attending Clark State Community College and studying to become a registered nurse (RN).

Angela Pierson, also employed by CMH Regional Health System works with CMH neurologist Dr. Andrea Manhart. She will attend Southern State Community College in January to pursue her degree in nursing.

Both were awarded a $2,000 scholarship. Cheryl Fisher, CMH Physician Practice Leader spoke on behalf of the two scholarship recipients. She praised the recipients for their professional dedication and desire to pursue academic advancement in the healthcare field.

Tim Prestridge, CFO/COO CMH Regional Health System was also a guest for the evening.

After a short business meeting, Joann Chamberlin proceeded with the installation of five new HACC board members.

The speaker for the evening meeting was Clinton County Common Pleas Judge John W. “Tim” Rudduck. Judge Rudduck discussed the “You Turn Recovery Drug Court Program.”

The program was established in January 2015. It was designed to address the serious health issue of drug addiction in our community. Judge Rudduck indicated that with community involvement the program has had success. Its first graduate was celebrated in early August 2016. He hopes that this program can be used as a template for other counties.

The judge thanked the HACC for inviting him to speak on this serious issue.

The meeting culminated with a very interesting question and answer session.
