Hottinger 2nd in girls Big Blue Challenge

FAIRFIELD — With tournament runnerup Katie Hottinger, the Wilmington High School girls bowling team finished eighth out of 24 teams Sunday in the Big Blue Challenge at the Game of Fairfield.

Hottinger earned a spot on the all-tournament team. Hottinger had 205, 187 and 201 for a 593 series. She was second overall.

Sarah Waln had a 525 series (200, 157, 168) while Chasity Asher had 511 (158, 187, 166).

“The girls bowled very well against some very tough competition,” WHS coach Josh Fisher said. “We are looking forward to the month of January when we will be bowling in three different tournaments.”

On the boys side, Wilmington was 16th out of 28 teams on Saturday.

Ryan Hottinger had a 629 series with a high game of 245. Zach Zeckser had a 604 series with a 244 game.

WHS had problems in the baker games with 161, 162, 131, 178 147, 168.

“They struggled the first game,” Fisher said. “They bowled a little better the last two games.”
