The Blanchester seventh grade girls basketball team was defeated by Clermont Northeastern 28-16 Wednesday night.

Maddie Creager led the team with six points, followed by Daelyn Staehling who had five points, Lacie Tedrick with three points and Zoie Stanforth with two points rounded out the scoring the young Ladycats.

Stanforth and Creager both played great defense for the Wildcats, coach Bella Cook said. Stanforth had four defensive rebounds while Creager had three defensive rebounds and two steals.

Also playing well on defense was Taylor Combs with two defensive rebounds, Staehling with one offensive rebound and one block, Tedrick with one defensive rebound and Maddison Ogden with a steal.

Creager and Staehling had two offensive rebounds each, Combs had one offensive rebound and Stanforth had one assist.

The Ladycats will get a holiday break, then return to the courts Jan. 4 to take on Mount Orab at home.
