Christian Heritage Home Educators of Wilmington, CHHEW, announce the winners of the 2016-2017 Scripps Spelling Bee. Haley Wheeler, daughter of Patty and Jeff Wheeler of Wilmington, is winner of the K-4th grade level. Honor Persing is the winner of the 5th-8th grade level and will advance to the Scripps Regional qualification online test. Honor is the daughter of Michelle and Joe Persing of Martinsville. Twelve students participated in the CHHEW Spelling Bee hosted by Wilmington Assembly of God on Dec. 16. Visit CHHEW.org for more information about homeschool events.
